The Ball of Dreams
To honour the festive season, the House conjures a dreamlike stroll through the legendary gardens at the palace of Versailles. A marvellous odyssey that celebrates the founding couturier’s admiration for this storied place as well as his passion for enthralling festivities and costume balls.
Since its founding in 1946, the House of Dior has constantly cultivated a powerful, deeply inspiring relationship with Versailles. The embodiment of French art de vivre, this iconic palace exerted an incredible allure for Christian Dior who, starting with his earliest collections, named several of his designs Trianon or, quite simply, Versailles. |

In a further ode to the art of dreams, emblematic makeup products (re)appear in gold, transposing the magic of the “Ball of Dreams” to illuminate the festive season. Light also dresses and magnifies Rouge Dior and the must-have Rouge Dior Forever Liquid Sequin, which reveals an incandescent, shimmering effect with just a press of the lips, and now is revisited in ten captivating, irresistibly magnetic colours. |
Dior and Versailles: A Royal Passion
The House has never ceased to embrace its fascination with Versailles, through the decades and countless memorable events. Among them: the 60th anniversary show presented by John Galliano in the Orangerie, the Dior autumn-winter 2021-2022 women’s ready-to-wear show and the exceptional dinner Dior hosted for the 400th anniversary of the palace built by the Sun King. A timeless landmark and a unique setting for iconic campaigns such as the Secret Garden films, and those for the perfume J’adore, now embodied with an extraordinary aura by Rihanna, the new ambassador for Dior’s star fragrance. This multi-faceted, steadfast alliance is also reflected through numerous sponsorship initiatives. In 2018, Dior supported and accompanied the renovation of the Queen’s Hamlet, one of the palace’s treasures, as well as the rehabilitation of the Royal Chapel, an architectural testament to the reign of Louis XIV. In a sublime echo to Monsieur Dior’s love of flowers, in 2019 Parfums Christian Dior participated in the restoration of the Queen’s Grove, making possible the planting of 600 rosebushes representing 38 species, including 12 Rose de Granville bushes.
