Ten years of
Rose des vents

Dreamed up in 2015 by the Artistic Director of Dior Joaillerie, the Rose des vents collection is celebrating its tenth anniversary. Ten years of passion and audacity, inviting us to a poetic immersion in the House’s heritage wherever the winds have blown.

It all began in Granville, at the villa Les Rhumbs, Christian Dior’s childhood home set on the cliffs of Normandy facing the sea. In its garden, where he loved to admire the moving beauty of flowers, a captivating marine symbol indicating the cardinal points could be seen: a compass rose, made entirely of mosaic.

A marvellous inspiration, which Victoire de Castellane showcases and reinterprets in her Rose des Vents creations and their various reinventions. A collection of infinitely refined medallions, conceived as a fabulous journey and homage.

Bordered in rice-grain gold, reminiscent of a navigator’s rope, each medallion reveals one side adorned with a compass rose, in the form of an eight-pointed gold star – echoing the founding couturier’s lucky number – on which a diamond sparkles. The other side is enhanced with white mother-of-pearl, pink opal, onyx or malachite.

Season after season, this exclusive range is enriched by new additions: the iconic talisman by turns sublimating necklaces, bracelets, rings or earrings, dressed in a shimmering palette.

“The compass rose immediately imposes a very pretty notion of a voyage, and for me, creating a piece of jewellery or a work of art means pursuing something to the end, like the wind; it is about elsewhere, the guide that shows the way,” explains Victoire de Castellane.

“Rose des vents is a metaphor for creation. To create is to seek, to turn in circles, and then to find one’s cardinal reference point and set off on a journey. Creation is the imprint of an immobile journey.”

– Victoire de Castellane

In 2018, this prodigious odyssey continued with Rose Céleste. Tributes to Monsieur Dior’s fascination with the stars and the divinatory arts, the pieces represent the brilliance of the sun and the mystique of the moon in a mesmerizing interplay of two sides. Magnified by combinations of gold, mother-of-pearl, onyx and platinum stars, the medallions flip over to reveal their brilliance as they move, offering multiple combinations.

Four years later, in 2022, Rose des Vents began a third chapter in its legend with the charms, summoning the founding couturier’s superstitious spirit. Thought-up as delicate fetishes to be kept close to oneself, these charms, in mother-of-pearl and yellow gold punctuated with diamonds, pay tribute to the gris-gris and codes dear to Christian Dior – the bee, the rose and the lily-of-the-valley. Synonymous with good luck, bracelets and necklaces are embellished with these irresistible amulets.

At the convergence of ultimate simplicity and sophistication, the models of the fourth theme, entitled Étoile des Vents – unveiled in 2024 – revisit with virtuoso artistry the Rose des Vents motif. Jewellery embodying Monsieur Dior’s star – an emblem that brought him luck and encouraged him to establish his own couture House, these precious pieces, studded with meticulously set diamonds, combine yellow gold, rose gold and white gold, reflecting all the excellence of the Ateliers. These captivating tales are renewed over time by exceptional ambassadors: Jenna Ortega and Xin Liu. An extraordinary story, which continues to be written in 2025, with the launch of sumptuous new creations perpetuating the unique magic and identity of the multifaceted Rose des Vents.
