DELICATE AND INFINITELY PRECIOUS, THE NEW DEAREST DIOR COLLECTION DESIGNED BY VICTOIRE DE CASTELLANE APPLIES THE PRINCIPLES OF HAUTE COUTURE TO JEWELLERY. A DÉFILÉ OF STONES AND DIAMONDS CELEBRATING DIOR HERITAGE, WITH PASSION AND INSPIRATION.
In a prolongation of the exceptional Dear Dior and Dior Dior Dior collections, Victoire de Castellane continues to broaden the House’s jewellery lexicon with a fresh interpretation of the subtlety of lace, embodied by the collection Dearest Dior. A pluralistic ode to the legacy of Christian Dior and the virtuosity of the House’s savoir-faire, translated into seventy-eight creations that express a multifaceted femininity, at once fragile and powerful, timeless and profoundly contemporary. Enlacing the body with sensuality, emphasizing the grace of movement, each piece reflects a wish on the part of the Artistic Director of Dior Joaillerie to conceive jewellery to be worn like a second skin, with the finesse and lightness of lace. The ethereal settings of necklaces, rings and bracelets seem to evaporate, allowing diamonds and rubies, pearls and tourmalines, and blue, pink or yellow sapphires to reveal their shimmering colours in complex compositions that evoke the intertwining of guipure. Such prowess attests to the excellence in Dior’s ateliers, highlighted here by the many techniques required to craft such precious gems. |
Thus, in a hypnotic play of shine and transparency, lace is spun from gold into leaves of remarkably supple mesh, the result of extensive research and development. Lines and articulations were closely studied to adapt perfectly to the curves of the hand, wrist and neck, while flat volumes reproduce the exquisiteness of lace posed directly on the skin. A goldsmith’s ribbon, enhanced by stitched diamonds, scattered flowers, tassels and sequins, perpetuates the dialogue between jewellery and couture. Inspired by Galons Dior, some designs feature plant motifs – a tribute to Monsieur Dior’s unconditional passion for gardens. This enchanting chapter was lensed by Brigitte Niedermair in a series of images that blend poetry, audacity and modernity. Her exquisite still-lifes unveil these objects of art and desire against a pink background – the founding couturier considered it “the softest” of hues – clad in a fascinating mesh. A play of materials and contrasts, and a manifesto of elegance. |
